Australia is located in the southern hemisphere.  It is often referred as “Down Under”.  The Australian continent is positioned between the Pacific and the Indian Oceans, south of Asia.  The most common Aussie (Australian) slang is “G’day Mate !”

Australia is known for it’s beautiful beaches, the Great barrier Reef, Ayers Rock, kangaroos, kaola bears, and it’s laid back and friendly people.   It is the sixth largest country in the world and has the lowest population density per square kilometre.

Sydney

Sydney is the state capital of New South Wales and the most populous city in Australia. It is on the south-east coast of the Tasman Sea.  Sydney offers beautiful landscapes, beautiful harbour, surrounding beaches and good weather all year round.  It is one of the world’s most iconic cities, and contains famous landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.  You can experience Sydney via the Sydney 360 : http://www.sydney.com/sydney360.

This city is the biggest in the country and the most likely arrival point for most visitors from overseas. Sydney is renown for its spectacular harbour, hundreds of fine beaches, and one of the most recognisable city centres in the world.  Other areas of interest include Bondi Beach, Manly, and Darling Harbour. Popular landmarks besides the Opera House and Harbour Bridge include Sydney Olympic Park, The Rocks – the Sydney’s early settlement, and the Sydney Tower – the tallest structure in Sydney offering superb 360 degree views of the city.

Conference venue

The conference takes place in Vibe Hotel North Sydney. How to get there

By plane: The nearest airport is Sydney (SYD-Kingsford Smith Intl), which is situated 15 kilometres from the Airport, and about 3 kilometres from the centre of Sydney. You can take a taxi from the airport; a taxi to the conference and hotel venue costs approximately $65 AUD.

Alternatively, you can take the Sydney Airport Link (train) to the Central Railway Station. From the Railway Station, take the Northern Line to Milsons Point Station.  Milson’s Point Station is 2 minutes walk across from the conference venue and hotel; see Sydney Airport GO for further information.
